Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. We’ve kept this policy short and clear — here is what you need to know.
1. Where This Privacy Policy Applies
This Privacy Policy applies to the websites, mobile applications, and other services offered under the Meety brand. However you use Meety—whether you are here to meet new people, chat, or use other features—these terms apply to you. For simplicity, we will refer to all of these as "Meety" or the "service" throughout this policy.
2. Data We Collect and Process
To help you make meaningful connections, we need some basic information. Some of this you share with us directly, some is generated automatically when you use our service, and some comes from integrated third-party platforms.
A. Data You Share with Us
- Account Details: When you register, you share basic details with us, such as your name and date of birth.
- Profile Details: When creating your profile, you can add extra information like your gender, interests, and preferences.
- Content (Profile Photos & Bio): This includes photos you upload specifically for your public profile and public bio information. These public profile files are stored on our servers so other users can view them, and they are permanently deleted when you delete your account. (Note: Private chat messages, including any photos or media sent within a chat, are stored locally on your device, and voice/video calls are direct peer-to-peer transmissions; none of these are ever stored, recorded, or saved on our servers. Private chats are processed temporarily in transit by our transmission API and are permanently lost if you uninstall the app or lose your device).
- Purchase and Transaction Data: If you purchase coins or premium subscriptions, the transactions are processed entirely by third-party payment processors (Google Play Billing). We do not collect, process, or store any of your credit card details or financial information. We only receive confirmation that your payment was successful to credit the purchases to your account.
- Customer Support Data: When you contact us, you share the information necessary to resolve your issue.
B. Automatically Collected Technical Data
- Usage Data: Service interaction data, such as when you open the app, which features you use, and who you communicate with.
- Technical Data: Your device's IP address, device type, operating system version, app configurations, and crash logs. This technical data is collected automatically through integrated third-party tools (Firebase Analytics and Google Play Services) for infrastructure stability, analytics, and bug tracking. We do not use your IP address to track or estimate your precise or approximate location.
C. Data from Third Parties
- Social Media / Third-Party Login Data: If you choose to log in using Google, Apple, or similar accounts, we receive the basic profile information shared by that platform.
D. Device Permissions
To support specific features within the app, we request your permission to access certain device functions on an on-demand basis. These permissions are only requested at the exact moment they are needed, and you can grant or revoke them at any time through your device settings:
- Camera Permission: Required solely to capture video during video calls.
- Microphone Permission: Required solely to capture audio during voice and video calls. Audio data processed via the microphone is transmitted peer-to-peer and is never recorded or stored on our servers.
- Notifications Permission: Required to deliver notifications about incoming messages and likes.
3. Why and How We Use Your Data
We only use the data we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide the service: Creating your account, managing your profile, and ensuring the app runs smoothly.
- To list profiles: We list profiles of other users based on your language preferences and device locale settings (the language and region settings of your device's operating system). We do not use matching algorithms, IP geolocation, or GPS location tracking to list or recommend users.
- To ensure safety: Detecting and preventing fake accounts, spam, and abusive behavior.
- To improve the service: Fixing bugs, developing new features, and enhancing your overall experience.
- To show ads: Delivering ads that match your interests through Google AdMob.
- Legal obligations: Processing and sharing data when required by official authorities under applicable laws. We only do this in response to a valid legal process (such as a court order, search warrant, or subpoena) and solely to the extent that such data is actually stored and available on our servers.
4. How We Share Your Data
We only share your data with third parties in the following limited situations:
- Other Users: The information you make public on your profile (photos, age, interests, etc.) is visible to other members. You are in full control of this and can manage it in your profile settings.
- Infrastructure and Advertising Partners: We work with trusted global providers like Google Play Services, Firebase, and Google AdMob to manage technical infrastructure, analytics, and advertising. These providers only access technical data to perform tasks on our behalf and cannot use it for other purposes. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for the data practices, security breaches, or service disruptions of these providers.
- Business Continuity: If we experience a major change in our corporate structure (such as a transfer or merger), your data may be shared with the new party. We will notify you in advance if this happens.
- Legal and Safety Protections: We may disclose your information if required to do so by a valid legal process (court order, search warrant, or subpoena).
- End-to-End Privacy / Local Storage: We do not—and technically cannot—monitor, read, or access your private conversations. All chat history and messages are stored exclusively on user devices, not on our servers. Our API acts strictly as a temporary transit pipeline to transmit messages between devices and does not store or save them on any database or server. In order to maintain community safety in accordance with app store guidelines, we employ a fully automated, programmatic image filter in transit that detects and blurs adult or sensitive photos (presenting them with a warning screen to the recipient). This process is executed programmatically by automated machine code in real-time without any human review, and no images are stored or saved on our servers during this filtering. The only other way we can ever review any message content is if a user voluntarily reports another user; in this specific case, the reporting user's device shares a limited snippet of their recent chat history with us to allow moderation. Outside of these automated in-transit safety checks and voluntary, user-initiated reports, we have absolutely no access to your conversations, and we cannot retrieve them even if requested, as they do not exist on our servers.
- Once you delete your account, your data is permanently purged. We cannot retrieve or share deleted data with anyone, including law enforcement, as it no longer exists on our systems.
- Data Production Limitations: Since we do not require email registration or passwords, and because we do not log or store registration IP addresses, device metadata, or chat histories on our servers, we do not possess any connection logs or historical message data. In the event of legal inquiries, law enforcement requests, or impersonation claims, we cannot produce any meety logs, IP addresses, or account metadata, as such data is technically non-existent on our systems.
5. Your Rights
You are in full control of your data. You can exercise the following rights at any time:
- Access and Portability (Right to Know): You have the right to request information about what personal data we collect, use, and share.
- Correction: You can update or correct your profile information directly inside the app.
- Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data using the in-app account deletion tool, or by requesting account and data deletion via email at support@joinmeety.com.
- Opt-Out (Do Not Sell/Share my Info): You have the right to request that we do not sell or share your personal data with third-party advertising partners for targeted ads.
- Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you (such as denying service or charging different prices) for exercising your privacy rights.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data
We only process your data as long as it is needed to provide the service. We keep your data for as long as your account remains active. When you delete your account or uninstall the app from your device, we immediately and permanently remove all your data from our servers. For technical logs kept by third-party providers (Firebase, AdMob, etc.), their respective retention policies apply.
7. Links to Other Sites
Our app may occasionally contain links to other websites or services, either through advertisements or redirects. These sites are not operated by us; we have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, their content, privacy policies, or practices. We strongly recommend that you review the legal terms and policies of any external link before clicking.
8. Children's Privacy
Meety is strictly for individuals aged 18 and older. We do not allow anyone under 18 to use our platform, and we do not knowingly collect personal or legal data from them. If you notice a user who is under 18, please use the in-app reporting feature or contact us directly; we will immediately close the account and delete the associated data.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update or change this privacy policy from time to time to reflect evolving app features or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the date at the top of this policy, or through in-app notices if the changes are significant. All changes become effective immediately once posted on this page. By continuing to use the application, you agree to the updated terms; we recommend checking this page occasionally.
